Stamp out nail fungus
Toenail fungus affects almost half of all Americans by the age of 70. Fungal infections occur when the nail has a small trauma; microscopic fungi can gain entry, grow and spread. To reduce the risk of nail trauma, make sure your shoes – even those sky-high heels – fit well.
It’s also important not to walk around damp areas, like public pools or locker rooms, without some kind of foot covering. And keep your feet as dry as possible throughout the day.
Salon lovers take note: It’s possible for fungal infections to be spread in a salon if the operator does not properly disinfect tools. Consider bringing your own tools.
