When I bought this and 1st tried it I thought, like many on here, what a piece of junk. Then I looked at the video, you don't need to remove the ring, you just need to make sure you push the wax tin down far enough that you really don't see the ring. Once I did that everything went fine. It does take a good 25 minutes to warm up but I am fine with that. Now that I know how to correctly use it I think it is great.

I have yet to be able to use this product. It has been heating up for almost 12 hours and it still isn't heated enough to use. I have stirred the product and I have switched outlets. (Incidentally the outlets do work.) I am very dissatisfied with this product and I have become dissatisfied with all of the Sally Hansen waxing kits.

I can't really comment on the effectiveness of the product because I didn't get to use it. After trying to heat it up for 5 hours yesterday, I gave up. It wasn't the outlet as everything else that I use in the outlet works. Plugged in my flat iron right after the wax just to make sure. So I am disappointed that it didn't heat up even after stirring it/trying to stir it several times. But I can say that if it had worked, it looks like 'good' wax! So I may try to heat it up again and try to get it loose enough that I can put it in a ceramic container to heat up in the microwave.
I think that maybe there is a problem in the unit. So the one I bought may be deffective; however seems like the system has worked for others. So I guess it's just hit or miss.

OK, I bought this product thinking it was going to save me time instead of going to a professional and boy was a I wrong!! I started by reading the directions so I did as they said well after an hour of heating the wax was still hard. I ended up using a old coffee maker hot plate to heat the wax which in less than 5 min had the wax ready. I did like the wax it did it's job so I will be just buying the wax refills and using my coffee maker hot plate to melt the wax. But the wax warmer Ill be throwing that thing away. So save ur money on the warmer and just buy the refills!!

One more thing - while warming, be sure to leave the lid on so that the heat stays inside the container! Also, set the lid over the top if it's going to sit for a few minutes to keep heat in. It takes a little while to heat up, but if you read the directions carefully, you'll be OK. I have waxed myself for many years and this is the best system I've used outside of professional treatments!

This is not a good product. The wax itself is great, but the heating element does not heat up the wax in the 25 minutes that the instructions claim. It takes at least 4 hours. I will be returning this to the store where I purchased it. If they don't take it back, I will be contacting Sally Hansen. Like I said, the wax itself is great. It removes the hair very well. I use my teapot warmer to melt the wax.

It took almost 45 minutes and the little “professional quality warmer” was not even ready to the suggested temperature to wax. I put the wax in the microwave and it warmed up. An add on...the rubber ring is small and hard to see...it's at the top of the can lip...just an add since everyone seems to be having the same problem as me. The wax melts quickly once ring is removed and drys fast...about or less than a minute...so pull off quick.

I had trouble heating the wax up but after inspecting the wax can i found a rubber ring around the outside lip of the can. After I removed the ring and pressed the can firmly in place, the wax heated fine. I really like the texture of this wax and also the quick drying and removal...much better then the old wax I heated in the micro. I would recommend this product but with better instruction.

It did melt my wax, in about 40 minutes. However, it's the kind of wax that doesn't work well on me. It does not dry hard, it drys kinda sticky. If you like the Microwavable stuff that Sally Hansen makes, you will not like this. I want a dry wax that will come off easily, this doesn't. Wow, the absolute WORST at-home wax product I've used ever. First, it took an hour for the wax to melt. AN HOUR! (not 25minutes per the instructions), and it was still pretty thick (not easy to stir, dried quickly and was very stringy when taking the wax out). One can lasted for the front of one lower leg and knee, and it didn't even take the hairs off well. AND, I had a few itchy spots on my leg the day after like some of the hair follicles got irritated. Bottom line, I ended up shaving the next day. I hate this product.

I purchased Sally Hansen simple spa wax warmer kit. My warmer did not melt the wax for me either. I have a candle wax warmer. I used it to warm the wax from the kit. It does get very warm so u have 2 shut off the warmer for a little while or just set it on the little ridge it has. I put some wax on, let it sit a bit, n rip it off and I put it back in the tin it'll melt with the rest. Goes a long way. And its only my hair. And huge save on money. Love the refill kit. But now can't seem to find it in the WalMart I shop in. But I'm going to take the box in that I have n get them to reorder. I also tried the Express wax removal kit. Its junk. I hate any wax hair removal product with the strips. they do not work for me.

So, since this product does pretty much the exact same thing, supposedly. I decided to give it a try. I heated it up at 11:15AM - 2:25 PM and the wax didn't melt. and yes, I DID stir it. I got up and stirred it as frequently as possible and the wax wouldn't melt. It's a hunk of junk. What good is wax that doesn't melt? I agree with Ali, Sally Hansen has just lost a customer. I am better off using tweezers or shaving.

I looked all over the city for the Sally Hansen Extra Strength Brazilian Bikini Waxing Kit (which is AWESOME by the way) and it seems like every store has replaced this choice with the Simple Spa Wax Warmer Kit. I just tried it and gave up half way through...yeah it is THAT bad. The warmer does not heat the wax up. I had to toaster-over it first. The wax itself is not any better. It hardens so quickly that you do not even have time to remove it before it starts getting brittle and by that time removing it is useless. When I was quick enough, the wax was so sticky that it just became a mess, and then obviously hardened in the 2 seconds that I was trying to recover from the sticky warm wax all over my fingers. Worst of all, the nice blue oil is not even included in this product so all the hard wax that dried in 1/2 a second cannot even be removed with some nice blue oil. I threw this away and will NEVER use it again. Unless I happen to come across the fabulous Extra Strength Brazilian Bikini Waxing Kit ever again in my life (which is doubtful since I looked at like 10 different stores before settling for this poop), Sally Hansen has just lost a customer.

Before I got this product, I was all like searching for a really good waxing hair remover for thick hair. And I wasted money on other products and i was tired. When i got to the store to get hair removals I saw Sally Hansen Simple Spa Wax Kit and i read about and about a month later I bought it . You need to read the instructions carefully. The wax was hard to melt but the instructions say that you have to dig in the center of the wax and stir. So I did, it took a while, but it worked! When I reached the bottom it was all gooey and smiley. You need to put the wax before it hardens or else you need to put it in the tin again. I made a mess,but it was worth it! This works on all hair types and I'm really glad it does. I'M GOING TO STICK WITH THIS! :) THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Amazing!!! It takes a while until you get the hang of it but it is worth every penny. The only complain I have is that I wax my armpits every Sunday and it does not last 8 weeks. I have to wax once a week. I have to share with you that ever since I started waxing I noticed I feel more clean and I do not sweat as I used to. When I am done waxing my daughter plugs out the little hairs. To avoid irritation I apply pure vitamin E oil. Vitamin E oil is also good for clearing up the dark spot that anti pespirant deodorants leave behind. Off course waxing your armpits is always a little painful and gives you a sensation of discomfort, but just the thought of knowing and feeling cleaner I do not mind the little pain and discomfort. Beauty always has a price.

I initially purchased this kit hoping that it would be a little better than the Honey Wax solutions, which seems to leave about 1/2 the hair behind.
Initially, I just followed their directions, putting it on, waiting it to harden just enough, then pulling it off. The problem was that parts came off and other parts didn't, which meant I had to remove the stuck-on wax with my fingers or with tweezers - both took hair with it.

I had some cloth strips I bought at the beauty supply shop, originally for the honey wax, and I tried applying the hot wax, then applying the cloth strip, and then pulling the wax off using the cloth strip. This worked MUCH better. Nearly all of the wax came off, and if some of it stuck, I could put a bit of hot wax on top of it, apply the cloth and pull it off, leaving only a few bits of wax that could be scratched off (taking the hair with it) or tweezed off.

It was even effective on a man's facial hair, after he had grown out his "beard" for a week. About 95% of the hair came off, and what was left were the lightest colored hair. Even the salon waxing couldn't get it, but this wax did.

The instructions had some good suggestions, like putting talcum powder on your skin/hair before applying the wax. Following these instructions resulted in much less skin irritation. Applying vitamin E creme after resulted in less scarring and redness.

I was able to get it to warm up faster by pressing the tin all the way down, as suggested by others, but I learned that after waiting about 30 minutes for it to warm up. Also, the wax gets very hot. I found that I got better results when I used one spatula stick to load up another one, for 3-4 inches of length, by the time I got the wax spread out on the stick, it was cool enough to apply without too much difficulty.

The timing on when to pull the cloth is tricky. Too soon and you don't get much hair, too late and you leave half the wax behind. It seemed like about 5-10 seconds was about right.

I'm not sure why so many people are leaving negative comments. The wax heated in just over the amount of time it said it should by about 5 minutes for me. I used it on my upper lip and my eyebrows. It removed the hair beautifully. I have used many products before and I think all wax can be on the stringy side. You have to practice just a bit to get it right. I loved that the wax stayed warm while I was working. If you stir it like you're supposed to, it's not clumpy or a problem at all and for me, the consistency was perfect. I just bought the refill kit. I'm going to try it on my legs. Seems like no matter what or who waxes my legs, in a few weeks, they need it again. The one thing I do agree with is that there is not a heck of a lot of wax in the tins. If you were doing both legs you would probably need 2 or more. For the price I pay to be waxed, just doing my eyebrows and upper lip, I am saving tons of money using this product.

I've been waxing my legs for years, so I was excited to find a reasonably priced kit that didn't require strips. I thought this would be way more cost effective and eco-friendly. Boy, was I wrong. It took me twice as long to wax my legs, the wax was so sticky, it didn't come off in some spots and I had wax encrusted legs! NOT attractive when you're a Bikram yoga teacher and spend most of your time in tiny yoga shorts. Nothing would remove it! I gave up eventually and saved the remainder of my legs with a razor, since it was so patchy and because I ran out of wax. I'm going back to the brazillian extra strength wax kit with strips. I might have to run back and forth from the microwave, but it gets the job done in about 20 minutes total without the wax residue and hairy patches!

The idea behind this product was great. However it did not live up to the expectations I had. Once I finally figured out how to get the wax warm I gave it a try. It was very hard to apply. When you pull it off it sticks to your fingers and is very hard to get off. I got frustrated after trying to wax the upper part of my leg and decided to throw the entire product in the garbage. Since this product was a waste of money I would have been better off going to a salon to get waxed.

This has to be the worse product ever! I have been waxing for years now. I have gone to be waxed several times with no problems and I have used several waxing kits that all use strips and again no problems. This stuff on the other hand was HORRIBLE!!! Yes it has a nice smell and it does work to a very small extent but that is it! I received this as a birthday present (mainly so I would quit borrowing my sister very nice pro kit) At first I was excited and got everything ready. I started reading the instructions and saw where it said strip-free and thought oh NO! First you have to make sure the hair is long enough and I mean long like 1/4 inch, second you have to put it on very thick, third if it hardens too much it just breaks and crumbles. Yes! breaks and crumbles as you are trying to pull it off. Oh to make it real nice you also have to pull it off slowly(lots of pain) just to lessen the breaking and crumbling. You also can only do a very small area at a time, think 2 inch square, that's it. So I put up with all this just to finish what I started which was my legs by the way and then I ran out of wax. Yep had only the bottom parts of both my legs done and hadn't even started on the top part of my legs and I was out of wax. So needless to say I got very upset!! I will never buy a strip-free wax kit ever and I'm not going to use this thing again. Of course this is just my opinion but if you have used strips and are looking into this I would differently tell you to stay with the strips. On the other hand if you are a first timer you might do ok with this and it might help you see what is really going on under the strips since those arent see-though but truthfully I would still say use a strip wax kit.

When I first warmed the wax, it was taking longer than the 25 minutes stated in the instructions to warm and melt - but after searching online how to troubleshoot it - like the other users said - you have to push the tin all the way down so the black collar doesn't show. Once it did melt, the wax was too warm for me, so I kept switching it off and on and constantly mixing so that it didn't get "lumpy". I am also accustomed to using strips, and without strips, it was difficult to figure out how to apply the warm wax and leaving enough at the edge for something to grab when you'd peel the wax off. With trial and error, I found a method of using the wax. I would have to go back and apply more wax at the edge of the wax strip I created for something to grab when I'd peel it off. I would have to wait for the wax to get "hard" enough to peel off but "soft" enough so it was pliable - and I found that by tapping my nail against the wax let me know it was ready to be peeled off - if my nail stuck to the wax, it wasn't dry enough yet. If it was too dry/hard - I would just add more wax to make it pliable again. You have to peel the strip off slowly - going faster could mean missing hairs - or worse - the strip breaking. Peeling it slowly hurts, and obviously - I was wincing back tears just doing the bikini line! While peeling with one hand, my other hand would follow right behind the strip - holding the skin taut and putting pressure down - it seemed to alleviate the pain a lot more. With sugar waxes, you could pull the strip off in a quick manner, but I often found that it missed hairs, even if you tried going more slowly. With the hard wax, it got everything. I didn't like the wooden stick for facial hair. I wish this kit came with the dowel type applicators with an angled flat end or a pointed end. Also, when using the wax for facial hairs - if you apply too much and accidentally get the wax on hairs that you don't want waxed off - get baby oil to loosen the wax from the skin - work slowly or else it will pull them out. I'd love if they would make the kit with strips which are easier to work with for me.

This is the worst product I have ever used! I have been waxing for a long time and tried this product tonight. I followed the instructions completely. The wax heated fine as it said, I could never get the hang of the consistency... either too thin so it cooled too quickly and did not come off as it should. Or too thick that it didn't cool quick enough and was too soft and gummy. I then spent an 30 minutes with a loofah scrubbing the leftover wax off of my legs and hands. Save your money... the microwave sugar wax is a much better product!

By far the best at home wax kit I've ever tried. The others are right, you have to push the wax tin ALL the way in so you don't see the rubber ring anymore. Wax melted in about 20 minutes. Waxed my underarms and it did as good a job as the salon does. It was a bit messier, but I would have paid, including tip, $35. I'll save the money and do a little clean up at home. Great product! Remember to apply wax in small sections and leave the end slightly thick so you have something to pull up.

I love this product. I have to disagree with the reviews because this product works perfectly. I have seen many complains about the wax not warming up quickly, I suggest that they press the tin can down firmly until the black rubber rim is no longer visible. It heats up perfectly for me. The product is easy to use and is great for first time users and pros. I will keep buying product and will recommend to others.

I have to disagree with the above negative reviews. I absolutely love this product. As sad as it is to say, I have been waxing since I was 13 years old and this is by far the best home waxing kit that I have ever used. The wax does take a little bit longer than 20 minutes to melt but it doesn't take an unrealistic amount of time as long as the wax is stirred during the melting process. I have used the microwave wax a lot and it is such a pain to melt it to just the right consistency and then it always has to be rewarmed a little bit during the waxing process. With this system I don't have to worry about that. The wax melts at the perfect temperature and stays warm as long as I need it to. I love the fact that I can take a phone call or help one of my children and not have to worry about the wax hardening. In my opinion the wax goes on easily and spreads very easily. The only thing that I didn't love about this product was the application sticks provided...I wish that a smaller one for facial waxing had been included. Overall a great product and I would recommend it to others!

Terrible product! I have been using Sally Hansen hair removal products often and was so excited to see this since it would prevent constant trips to reheating wax in the microwave. Unfortunately this product was not the answer. I plugged it in and after nearly an hour the wax was still not soft enough, I mixed it around and saw the lower portion of the wax was finally melting but the consistency was really bad. I had bought the warmer as well as the refill wax 2 pack and needless to say, I returned them a couple days later. Totally useless, maybe the warmer is very poor quality. I really hope Sally Hansen rethinks this product and improves the quality-had this been my first Sally Hansen product I would not consider future purchases. So back to the microwave wax routine for me. I was very glad I could get a refund!

This was TERRIBLE! I wish I had just gone to a beauty supply store and bought a professional one. This doesn't get hot enough to warm it to an appropriate temp, so it doesn't get the right consistency to spread. By the time you make it to your face it's already started to harden and SUPER stringy! It's very gloppy and hard to put in the place needed! Just used it an hour ago, after it cools it's going in my trash!

Worked great for me for face. Took the 25 minutes to warm up mentioned in info sheet and melt wax. No problems.

I was so excited ... unfortunately it was short lived! I was so looking forward to something I could plug up in the bathroom and not have to microwave in the kitchen and then walk through the house! Not such a great thing after all! This is like trying to wax with marshmallow fluff! The consistency is not smooth, it is "gloppy" when you try to spread it and it creates terrible stringy flyaways! I hope that SH will spend some time perfecting this ... the concept is great and would be welcomed by many!
